We currently only offer one vivaBALANCE subscription per email address. To create packs or subscriptions for your family members, you can create different packs under different email addresses for each member, so each person’s pack is personalised and tailored just for them!

Supplements:
If you are on regular supplements and/or probiotics, you do not need to discontinue them for the test. It would take 2-3 weeks off of supplements and/or probiotics to determine what your native microbiome would be, but it is your decision to determine if you would like your microbiome to be tested native or supplemented. If you do not plan on stopping your supplements in the near future then you do not need to worry about discontinuing them before testing.
Medications:
No you do not need to stop your medications. You can still conduct the test while on your current medications.
The use of antibiotics—both prescription and herbal—will affect your vivaBALANCE test results. This does not mean you cannot complete a test, it is simply something to be aware of.
vivaLAB will capture the state of your microbiome at the time of testing. If a sample is taken directly after a course of antibiotics, recommendations will be focused on reestablishing your microbial ecosystem. The follow up re-test at 6 months will enable you to monitor your progress, and subsequent recommendations will be aimed at improving and maintaining the new balance.
If you do choose to wait to collect your samples after antibiotics, we recommend waiting at least 3 months after your last antibiotic dose.
Note: that antibiotics can affect the microbiome for up to a year after taking them, but testing three months after should show a significant difference.
No. Everything happens from home. Your test kit, results, and recommendations all arrive directly to you.
To complete the testing process:
- Collect your stool sample
- Collect your urine sample
- Post your samples in their respective reply-paid satchels to our labs.
- Complete the three segments or your Lifestyle Assessment.
- Collect your first morning urine into the 70ml screw capped container.
- Assemble the yellow Urine Monovettes as per the diagram on the following pages. Collect 2 x 10mls of urine from the small 70ml container and seal the Urine Monovettes as shown.
- Place the Urine Monovettes in the re‐sealable section of the Specimen
Transport Bag and close the bag by press‐sealing the bag, removing any air pockets that may form in the bag as you seal it. - Place the Specimen Transport Bag in the freezer for 2 hours. Discard the
remaining urine from the 70ml container. - After 2 hours remove the Specimen Transport Bag from the freezer and
place the request slip into the open pocket of the Specimen Transport Bag. - Please complete the Specimen Transport Bag and the Urine Monovettes adhesive stickers with your date of birth, sex assigned at birth and the first three letters of your first name and surname.
- Place the Specimen Transport bag into the Padded Express Post envelope and post back to our lab the same day.

- Collect your faecal sample free from urine or toilet water.
- Take the collection device as shown, unscrewing the purple cap ONLY and set aside for later use.
- Use the spatula to collect a small amount of your faecal sample.
- Transfer the faecal sample into the top portion of the yellow tube top. Repeat until the sample fills the yellow tube top, but DO NOT push the sample into the tube.
- Level the sample and remove any excess as shown.
- Pick up the purple cap and screw onto the yellow tube top until tightly closed.
- Shake and dissolve the sample in the stabilising liquid in the tube as shown.
- Place the spatula in the original packaging or toilet paper and discard in the garbage.
- Place the specimen into the Specimen Transport Bag and then into.

You will need to avoid the following foods for a minimum of 12 hours:
- Coffee
- Tea
- Caffeinated drinks
- Bananas
- Chocolate
- Cocoa

For the best results, abstaining for up to 48 hours prior to collecting the sample is recommended.
Continue taking any prescription pharmaceuticals prior to collecting your samples, as prescribed by your healthcare practitioner.
Not at all. The tests are simple, non-invasive, and can be completed from the comfort of your own home. We provide clear instructions and everything you need to collect your samples easily and discreetly.
Test results and recommendations are typically delivered to your account within 4 weeks after your test samples(s) are received by vivaLAB's testing facilities for the vivaINSIGHT test.
This timeframe may vary based on individual sample(s) provided. Even two samples from the same household may have different processing times due to variation in the quality or consistency of the samples provided. Because of these variations, supply chain challenges, and other factors, it is possible that some test results and recommendations may take 4-6 weeks to be delivered.
Yes, you can. In fact we encourage you to do so. It’s important you take your time when completing the Lifestyle Assessment. The more accurate your answers are, the more accurately our AI algorithms will be able to personalise your Precision Health Plan.
Our lifestyle assessment survey software automatically saves as you complete each question. To restart where you left off, simply access the assessment using the link supplied to you in the email you receive for each Lifestyle Assessment segment.
The vivaBALANCE collection kits have an expiration date that is up to six (6) months after original purchase date. We recommend completing the collection process and submitting your sample(s) to vivaLAB's testing facilities within 5 days of receiving your test kit.
If there are any problems after the lab receives your sample(s), vivaLAB will contact you with next steps, which may require a replacement test kit to collect new sample(s).
